[public] Happy Ada Lovelace Day
Some Details about Ada Lovelace Day
For my woman in technology, I pick Rear Admiral "Amazing" Grace Hopper, the author of the first workable compiler and a major contributor to the early culture of programming.
"I believe in having an open mind, but not so open that your brains fall out." - Grace Hopper
As a bonus, I also want to namecheck Emmy Noether, who whilst working a little earlier than we really had a tech industry, deserves a mention for her (IMO) still undervalued contribution to Mathematics and Physics.
Her theorem that a Lie symmetry is an expression of a conserved quantity underlies a vast amount of modern physics and yet admits of so elegant a proof that she's been one of my personal heroes since I first read her work, nearly 15 years ago.
